Business VPN router with VDSL2 and ADSL2+ modem for Annex A and M connections

LANCOM 1781VA also available as a POTS version

Aachen, May 06, 2013 - LANCOM Systems, the leading German manufacturer of professional solutions for VPN network connectivity and wireless LAN infrastructure, presents the LANCOM 1781VA over POTS, an additional variant of the powerful business VPN routers for VDSL2 and ADSL2+ connections. This model is ideal for use in countries where ADSL connections are provided over analog telephone lines. What's more, the LANCOM 1781VA is "vectoring ready": By means of a future free update to the operating system LCOS, it supports VDSL2-vectoring technology for genuinely doubled VDSL speeds.

Thanks to its high-performance hardware platform with faster processors and hardware routing, the LANCOM 1781VA achieves data throughput rates that set standards for this class of device. Even with VPN encryption activated, the device takes full advantage of the 100-Mbps maximum bandwidth available with VDSL2 Internet access. This router of course holds the "IPv6 Gold certification" for its support of new Internet standard TCP IPv6 (IPv4-IPv6 dual stack).

The LANCOM 1781VA over POTS features an integrated VDSL2 and ADSL2+ modem for ADSL connections of the Annex A or M standard. Four configurable ports can be used for LAN, WAN (up to four-way load balancing with additional ADSL, SDSL, VDSL or cable modems), DMZ, VLAN, or for monitoring. The high-speed USB 2.0 port supplies power to USB media, so that in particular UMTS sticks acting to backup the VDSL and ADSL connection can be connected directly to the router.

Flexibility through virtualization

The ARF (Advanced Routing and Forwarding) function of the LANCOM 1781VA provides up to sixteen virtual networks, each with its own settings for DHCP, DNS, routing and firewall. ARF allows logically separate networks to be operated for different groups and applications on a single physical infrastructure.

Security and backup included

The integrated high-security firewall with stateful inspection, intrusion detection and denial-of-service protection screens the network safely and reliably from attacks from the Internet. The included management tools LANconfig and LANmonitor offer not only convenient remote maintenance of entire installations and useful setup wizards—such as the 1-Click-VPN wizard for the easy setup of VPN connections between LANCOM routers—but also real-time monitoring and logging. Comprehensive backup and high-availability functions guarantee smooth 24-hour operations.

The LANCOM 1781VA over POTS is available now. The device provides 5 VPN channels as standard. An optional extra upgrades this to 25 channels. Optional web content filtering can be enabled for up to 100 users.
