Benefit from multi-Gigabit high-speed Internet in your fiber-optic network: the LANCOM 2100EF is perfectly suited for XGS-PON fiber-optic technology, utilizing one of the two 10 Gigabit SFP+ ports with an optional module such as the LANCOM SFP-XGSPON-1. The second SFP+ port allows the multi-Gigabit SD-WAN gateway to distribute data to the LAN at full speed, while external modems or a multi-Gigabit access switch can be flexibly connected via 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet. For secure network access in the office, at home, or on the road, LANCOM IPSec VPN and SD-WAN securely connect 25 (optional 100) sites and mobile employees. By integrating the LANCOM 2100EF into the LANCOM Management Cloud (LMC), you can centralize and automate its management.

LANCOM SD-WAN – Next-level networking
With LANCOM SD-WAN you can manage and monitor your entire corporate network centrally, cost-effectively, quickly, and stress-free! In combination with the LANCOM Management Cloud, the SD-WAN gateway gives you all the options for an automated setup of secure VPN connections (Auto-VPN) between sites, including network virtualization. Highlight features such as High Scalability VPN (HSVPN) and Advanced Mesh VPN offer you a significant plus in scalability and efficiency for a large number of branches and applications. Furthermore, if multiple WAN connections are defined, they are automatically operated in active/active mode (load balancing), thereby increasing the available total bandwidth. With Dynamic Path Selection and Dynamic Traffic Steering, applications are also dynamically routed via the best connection at any given time.
Multi-Gigabit high-speed Internet via fiber-optics
The SD-WAN gateway LANCOM 2100EF enables connection to fiber-optic lines (FTTH) via 10G SFP+ ports using a separately available transceiver module. By connecting to modern 10G-capable XGS-PON broadband networks, you create ideal conditions for real-time applications, such as monitoring systems, real-time simulations (digital twin), and other time-critical operations. Alternatively, you can also use GPON and AON modules for the backward-compatible LANCOM 2100EF to achieve speeds of up to 1 Gbps. This makes the multi-Gigabit SD-WAN gateway suitable for the gradual modernization of all application areas and industries and forms the basis for reliable, high-performance and future-proof networking.
Professional, comprehensive telephony functions
Equipped with the LANCOM VCM (Voice Call Manager), the LANCOM 2100EF takes over classic telephony management tasks. In addition, the LANCOM VCM provides common functionalities of a Session Border Controller (SBC): This ensures the secure separation of external (unsecure) and internal (secure) networks. For high call quality, voice packets are given preference thanks to bandwidth reservation (Quality of Service).

LAN distribution via LANCOM Direct Attach Cable
The LANCOM 2100EF is connected to the Internet with multi-Gigabit capability via SFP transceiver module SFP-XGSPON-1. For data transport both into and out of the LAN, the SD-WAN gateway is connected to a multi-Gigabit-capable switch via a 10G-compatible direct attach cable. For example, the LANCOM SFP-DAC10-1M/-3M can be used in the 10G SFP+ ports of the gateway and the switch. As an all-in-one solution, Direct Attach Cables (DAC) are easy to install and thus offer a faster, less complicated and cost-optimized connection compared to individual SFP transceivers. In addition to lower latency, high energy efficiency can be achieved thanks to direct copper-based networking, making the DAC the ideal connection type for short transmission distances.
LAN distribution via fiber-optic SFP transceiver modules and fiber-optic cable
In this scenario, the direct attach cable is replaced by individual fiber-capable SFP transceivers. For multi-Gigabit link speeds, for example, the LANCOM SFP-SX-LC10 (Multi Mode Fiber) or the LANCOM SFP-LX-LC10 (Single Mode Fiber) can be used. Depending on the type of fiber-optic cable and the wavelength used, these are reliably connected to each other over several kilometers. In order to benefit from the full bandwidth in the LAN, a 10G-capable or multi-Gigabit-capable switch should also be used here. Continuous, fiber-optic-based networking allows longer transmission distances, so that high-performance networks with high bandwidths can be implemented here.
LAN distribution via copper SFP transceiver module and copper cable
If no fiber-optic cables are available for internal connection to a switch or the connected switch has no 10G SFP+ ports, a copper SFP transceiver module can also be used in the second SFP+ port of the LANCOM 2100EF. The LANCOM SFP-CO10-MG, for example, is a good choice here. In conjunction with a CAT6A cable, it can achieve link speeds of up to 10 Gbps and bridge distances of up to 30 meters. Copper connections are easier to handle and can therefore be more cost-efficient than fiber-optic connections. Please note that due to the energy-intensive data conversion of the SFP-CO10-MG, its use in the LANCOM 2100EF is only permitted up to an ambient temperature of 30 °C.
LAN distribution with 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet
For particularly simple cabling without additional modules, the LANCOM 2100EF can also be connected to a multi-Gigabit-capable switch with up to 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet via one of the four Ethernet ports. Data transport via Gigabit Ethernet is particularly advantageous in scenarios where cost efficiency, compatibility with the existing infrastructure, and ease of installation and maintenance are paramount. As no special knowledge of fiber-optic technology or SFP+ modules is required, this variant is a simple plug-and-play solution that works with standard Ethernet cables.
