High performance and fail-safe: In company locations with data-intensive and business-critical applications, this SD-WAN gateway guarantees reliable networking thanks to its high interface diversity. It is suitable for direct connection to both modern fiber optic lines and external modems. The additionally integrated 5G modem ensures the best connection at all times in the event of a failure of the wired Internet, but also as a mobile primary access. With award-winning LANCOM IPSec VPN and SD-WAN, 5 (optionally 25) sites and mobile employees are securely interconnected.

The high-performance VPN router LANCOM 1800EF-5G enables direct connection to a fiber-optic line (FTTH) via its SFP port using a separately available SFP module (GPON / AON). It also offers maximum flexibility via Gigabit Ethernet for connection to external modems. It is therefore suitable for all fields of application and industries and forms the basis for reliable, high-performance networking.
LANCOM SD-WAN – Next-level networking
With LANCOM SD-WAN you can manage and monitor your entire corporate network centrally, cost-effectively, quickly, and stress-free! In combination with the LANCOM Management Cloud, the SD-WAN gateway gives you all the options for an automated setup of secure VPN connections (Auto-VPN) between sites, including network virtualization. Highlight features such as High Scalability VPN (HSVPN) and Advanced Mesh VPN offer you a significant plus in scalability and efficiency for a large number of branches and applications. Furthermore, if multiple WAN connections are defined, they are automatically operated in active/active mode (load balancing), thereby increasing the available total bandwidth. With Dynamic Path Selection and Dynamic Traffic Steering, applications are also dynamically routed via the best connection at any given time.
Fully future-proof with 5G
With the 1800EF-5G, either as a mobile primary access or in active/active mode with other access types, you benefit from all the advantages of 5G technology. Low latency and high-performance use of real-time applications such as telephony, video chat, video streaming in 4K or 8K or augmented reality, even with a high user density, are possible.
Application scenario 1: 5G and fiber
A client is connected to the Internet via the LANCOM 1800EF-5G in active/active mode (load balancing). Load balancing is used to distribute network data traffic evenly between Internet connections that are operated in parallel. In this way, data connections are divided evenly between (at least) two lines, and the individual bandwidths of the lines are combined. In this scenario, the load balancer integrated in the SD-WAN gateway decides for Internet line 1 (5G) or Internet line 2 (fiber), depending on the load. Even if one line fails, the connection is always secured via the other line.
Application scenario 2: primary access via 5G
The 5G modem integrated in the LANCOM 1800EF-5G is not only suitable for intelligent backup scenarios or parallel operation, but can also be used for 4G/5G primary operation. 5G offers fast and flexible Internet with data rates in the Gigabit range without the complex installation of wired Internet lines. This means that real-time applications such as video streaming or augmented reality (AR) can also be used with 5G mobile communications in combination with lowest latencies.
Application scenario 3: VPN load balancing
The integrated load balancer makes it easy to bundle multiple IKEv2 VPN connections into a load-balancing cluster. Be it in combination with a LANCOM SD-WAN gateway, a LANCOM SD-WAN central site gateway (e.g. LANCOM ISG-5000 in this case), or the LANCOM vRouter – the load of data traffic is more evenly balanced and the data traffic will be distributed if one connection fails. This significantly increases the VPN bandwidth available for multiple clients.
