Transparent security

More transparency and consumer protection when it comes to router selection: The IT Security Label identifies digital products for which manufacturers or service providers have assured compliance with security requirements of the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI). This creates a practical tool for consumers to find out about the security features of the labeled product before making a purchase decision. LANCOM Systems is the first manufacturer of broadband routers to be allowed to label a range of products with the new IT Security Label.

To the product overview

What is the IT Security Label?

The IT Security Act 2.0 mandated the BSI to introduce a voluntary security label. The IT Security Label thus gives end users the opportunity to find out about security functionalities promised by manufacturers for networked, Internet-enabled products and services. A label with this mark can be found, for example, on the product packaging of corresponding devices. A link or an easy-to-scan QR code on the label takes users to the trusted platform of the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) and an overview of the device's security features, current security information, and updates.

The goal: informed, self-determined, and sound purchasing decisions.

The BSI issues the IT Security Label if the manufacturer itself declares that a device or service meets specific, security-relevant product requirements. In doing so, the manufacturer itself verifies compliance with the relevant requirements. As a neutral body, the BSI can check compliance with the manufacturer's declaration at any time. This means that if it discovers security gaps or notices deviations from the manufacturer's declaration, the BSI can inform it and revoke the IT Security Label.
