CeBIT: LANCOM present new 300-Mbps WLAN access points

New WLAN platform for maximum performance and standard PoE

Aachen, March 01, 2010 - Networking specialists LANCOM Systems present their new L-320 series of 300-Mbps access points at CeBIT (Hall 13, C28). The two 802.11n access points LANCOM L 321agn Wireless and LANCOM L 322agn Wireless are based on an entirely new platform and they add to the company's range of wireless LAN products. The LANCOM L 322agn Wireless is the first 2 x 802.11n dual-radio access point from LANCOM. All models have an energy-efficient design allowing them to be supplied with power via PoE (IEEE 802.af).

Equipped with a dual-band radio module, the LANCOM L 321agn Wireless operates either in the 2.4 or 5-GHz band and it features an exchangeable external antenna. A Gigabit Ethernet interface forms the connection to the network.

The LANCOM L-322agn Wireless features two 802.11abgn dual-band modules and transmits with four external antennas. Optionally operating in the 2.4 and 5-GHz bands in parallel, it is ideal for implementing a gradual migration from mixed WLAN environments to 802.11n. One module offers full 5-GHz band performance, while the other radio module serves abg clients in the 2.4-GHz band. Two Ethernet interfaces form the network connections, one of these being a Gigabit Ethernet interface.

The outstanding feature of these devices is their 100% backwards compatibility with 802.11a/b/g clients. They offer gross data rates of up to 300 Mbps.

Like all LANCOM access points, the new models optionally operate in stand-alone mode or in combination with a LANCOM WLAN controller / wireless switch. They are also equipped with a comprehensive range of security features, including fully functional 802.11i with WPA2 and AES encryption, and also 802.1x/EAP (WPA Enterprise) for high-security environments. These devices support network virtualization with Multi-SSID and VLAN. These access points also serve to establish WDS (Wireless Distribution Systems) as they can form point-to-point connections and offer client-mode operation.

The LANCOM L-321agn Wireless will be available as of April 2010 at a suggested retail price of EUR 429 plus VAT. The dual-radio model LANCOM L-322agn will be available at EUR 599 plus VAT.
