New WLAN Controllers WLC-4010 and WLC-4100 from LANCOM Systems

Aachen, February 28, 2007 - LANCOM Systems GmbH is launching their new WLAN Controllers WLC-4010 and WLC-4100 at CeBIT 2007 in Networks Hall 13. LANCOM WLAN Controllers greatly simplify WLAN management and yield significant reductions in operating costs. WLAN networks are extended easily and securely simply by "plugging in" new access points. Configuration and monitoring are then handled fully automatically by the Controller.

The WLAN Controllers ensure that all of the access points in the network strictly observe corporate security policies. Potential security loopholes are eliminated by permanent monitoring across all company sites.

The WLAN Controllers WLC-4010 and WLC-4100 are new-generation "smart controllers" that route the data flexibly according to the requirements of each application. This prevents the Controller from becoming a central bottle-neck, a problem faced by many conventional implementations.

All of LANCOM's current access points and WLAN routers can be managed by the new WLAN Controllers after a free firmware update. This gives users freedom of choice from a large portfolio of indoor, outdoor and industrial access points. LANCOM can offer an optimal migration path for existing WLAN installations and presents LANCOM's customers and specialist resellers with protection of their investment.

The LANCOM WLC-4010 for managing up to 10 access points (optionally 25) is primarily aimed at small and mid-sized enterprises. It will be available from Q3, 2007.

The LANCOM WLC-4100 for 50, 100, or 250 managed access points is mainly intended for larger companies, universities and hospitals. It is due for launch in Q4, 2007.

Christian Schallenberg, Head of Product Marketing at LANCOM Systems GmbH: "LANCOM provides simple and secure WLAN management with the new WLAN Controllers. They make WLAN interesting for companies and institutions that have so far avoided using WLAN, primarily because of security concerns but also due to the overhead involved until now. We offer a unique choice of over 10 different access points, clients and WLAN routers for indoor, outdoor and industrial scenarios. Our customers benefit not only from cost savings, improved security, and protection of their investment; they also have the simplest means for implementing new applications such as Voice over WLAN and secure WLAN guest accounts.
