External multi-band antenna opens up new applications for 4G routers
AirLancer Extender I-360-4G supports 3G and 4G
Aachen, April 30, 2012—Networking specialists LANCOM Systems supplement their range of professional UMTS/LTE routers with the new specialized antenna AirLancer Extender O-360-4G. The antenna supports GSM, EDGE, UMTS/3G and LTE/4G, and operates in all relevant frequency bands ranging from 698-960 MHz and 1710-2700 MHz. The LTE router LANCOM 1781-4G benefits from improved reception even in rooms with a poor signal.
Universal availability of EDGE and increasingly of UMTS/3G/HSPA+ along with the introduction of the high-speed cellular standard LTE/4G increasingly enable LTE routers to be used for Internet backup, or even as primary Internet access solutions in professional environments. There is a widespread problem, however: Signal reception inside buildings is simply not strong enough. A typical example of this is known from branch-office networking, which benefits enormously from LTE/4G or HSPA+ networking.
The AirLancer Extender I-360-4G from LANCOM is an external antenna for UMTS/HSPA+ routers and the LTE router LANCOM 1781-4G. It offers considerable flexibility in the choice of its location. It can be set up on window sills or electrical cabinets without requiring any holes to be drilled, or it can be mounted on window panes by suction pad. Two antenna cables transfer the signals to the router. Another advantage of the AirLancer Extender I-360-4G is that it is an omni-directional antenna with at least 2.5 dBi antenna gain. There is no need to point it towards the nearest LTE base station to achieve good signal reception.
The AirLancer Extender I-360-4G will be available from May at a suggested retail price of EUR 80 excluding VAT. It is supplied with a 2-meter cable.
