Fully managed 24-port Gigabit switch from LANCOM
LANCOM GS-2124 offers high-end features for performance networking
Aachen, May 19, 2009 - Networking specialists LANCOM Systems is extending the top end of their range of Gigabit switches. The managed Gigabit layer-2-switch LANCOM GS 2124 features 20 Gigabit Ethernet ports and four dual-media Gigabit Ethernet ports for TP or fiber-optics. The device is equipped with numerous high-end features including VLANs, port-based QoS, 802.1x authentication on all ports, and much more. The device also integrates into LANCOM's user-friendly LANmonitor program for network monitoring. The package is rounded off with a five-year warranty which also covers the ultra-quiet fans.
The LANCOM G-2124 switch can be configured and managed in any browser with the user-friendly Web interface, with Telnet, or by direct serial connection over RS-232. The integrated MIBs enable SNMP management as per SNMPv2. The device also integrates into LANCOM's user-friendly LANmonitor program for network monitoring. Virtual stacking management (VSM) enables up to 16 switches to be managed at one shared IP address.
The four Gigabit Ethernet combo ports enable uplink connections over several kilometers via fiber-optic cable.
High-end network management and maximum security
The GS-2124 is ideal for mid-sized to large networks supporting bandwidth-intensive applications. It supports QoS (Quality of Service by 802.1p or TOS/DiffServ), rapid spanning tree, port trunking, bandwidth restriction, port-based security settings with 802.1x authentication on all ports, SNMP/RMON, and IGMP snooping.
Continuous virtualization
The switch supports up to 256 simultaneous VLANs. In combination with other VLAN-capable LANCOM equipment (such as access points, routers, etc.), it enables network virtualization to be implemented throughout the entire infrastructure. Professional-standard port prioritization allows data traffic to be controlled and directed according to specific criteria and is ideal for handling real-time voice or video data, for example.
"With the GS-2124 we have addressed the wishes of our customers to include fully manageable Gigabit switches into our range of products. Issues such as quality, reliability and service - all from a single source - are in high demand for strategically important networking components," explains Gunnar Mayer, Network Connectivity Product Manager at LANCOM.
The LANCOM GS-2124 is available now at EURO 899 (suggested retail price excluding VAT). The optional SFP-SX module LANCOM SFP-SX-LC1 is available for EURO 139 plus VAT, the LX version LANCOM SFP-LX-LC1 for EURO 239 plus VAT.
