PRESS RELEASE 2012-326
High-performance 52-port switch from LANCOM Systems
LANCOM GS-2352: The new managed switch for high-throughput enterprise networks
Aachen, May 09, 2012—LANCOM Systems, the specialist for network connectivity and wireless LAN, adds to its line of switches with a new professional device. The LANCOM GS-2352 is a managed layer-2 switch with 48 Gigabit Ethernet ports and four SFP+ ports for 1 or 10 Gigabit Ethernet. The implementation of dual-stack enables the switch to operate in pure IPv4, pure IPv6, or in mixed networks. This allows for the progressive upgrading of enterprise network infrastructure to the next-generation Internet protocol IPv6. This switch is LANCOM's response to the needs of medium-sized to large-scale networks that demand the best in management, security and performance.
Functions such as Quality of Service, rapid spanning tree, port trunking, bandwidth restriction, 96 Gbps throughput on the backplane, minimum latency times, and the Gigabit backbone connector make the LANCOM GS-2352 an ideal switch for networks with high demands on bandwidth. The port-based 802.1x access control ensures maximum security and the energy-saving function as per 802.3az deactivates any ports that are not being used for data transfer
Supporting up to 4,096 simultaneous VLANs, the LANCOM GS-2352 provides a basis for efficient network virtualization in combination with LANCOM access points and routers. Professional port prioritization enables the precise control of data traffic, such as for real-time video or voice applications. Future software versions will also provide support for static layer-3 routing.
Configuration and management of the switch are performed with a convenient web interface, by command line, with Telnet, or via the serial port (RS 232). Connections can also be encrypted with SSH or HTTPS. Furthermore, the device integrates seamlessly into the LANCOM management tools LANconfig, LANmonitor and the Large Scale Monitor, and it supports SNPv2 management thanks to its integrated MIB. Virtual stacking management (VSM) enables up to 16 switches to be managed at a single shared IP address.
The LANCOM GS-2352 is available now for EURO 1,499.00 (suggested retail price excluding VAT) and comes with a 5-year warranty. The optional SFP fiber-optic modules are available for EUR 149.00 (SX) or EUR 259.00 (LX) (all prices excluding VAT).
