LANCOM 1751 UMTS with integrated UMTS modem

ADSL2+, UMTS modem, and GPS anti-theft in a VPN router

Aachen, December 17, 2007—LANCOM Systems GmbH is introducing the LANCOM 1751 UMTS, the world's first highly integrated "ADSL2+ / UMTS / ISDN / GPS router".

The latest addition to the LANCOM Systems portfolio is a business router featuring a directly integrated UMTS modem.

The LANCOM 1751 UMTS is setting standards in flexibility and redundancy. Should a standard DSL connection fail at a site, branch office or subsidiary, a backup connection via broadband UMTS/HSDPA or EDGE is set up automatically. Similarly, locations where cable DSL is unavailable can also be provided with connectivity. This can raise the availability of Internet connectivity to almost 100%.

Furthermore, this device features not only anti-theft measures such as ISDN self-callback; a true highlight is the integrated GPS location determination.

Equipped with an ADSL2+ modem, 4 Ethernet LAN ports, UMTS and ISDN, this ADSL2+ / UMTS router has all of the necessary interfaces for branch-office connectivity and office communications.

Integrated IPSec encryption provides secure site-to-site coupling and access for VPN clients.

The integrated UMTS modem performs with up to 7.2 Mbps downstream and with up to 2 Mbps upstream. Areas without UMTS coverage benefit from data rates of up to 240 kbps (EDGE/GPRS).

The SIM-card holder is accessible via the back cover. External accessory antennas can be connected in place of the supplied antenna for improved UMTS reception.

The LANCOM Voice-over-IP option rounds out the solution with all of the IP-telephony functions that users need in everyday business.

LANCOM's Advanced Routing and Forwarding enables the virtualization of devices for operation by multiple, separated applications or user groups.

Gunnar Mayer, Secure Access Product Manager at LANCOM Systems: "Now that ADSL and ISDN are increasingly being unbundled, integrating UMTS provides the support of new applications, improved availability, and remote configuration. The coverage and bandwidth offered by UMTS today are ideally suited for business applications."

The LANCOM 1751 UMTS will be available as of March 2008 for EUR 949 (excl. VAT).

A detailed data sheet and further information are available from the LANCOM website under www.lancom.de/umts.
