LANCOM 1781EF+ – the professional router with hardware routing for Gigabit performance

Aachen, January 28, 2013—LANCOM Systems present their LANCOM 1781EF+, heir to the successful 1781EF business router. With its high-performance hardware platform equipped with high-speed cable-modem or fiber-optic connectors, this VPN router is ideal for the performance Internet connections that are so important for companies, retail stores, public buildings, hospitals or hotels. The LANCOM 1781EF+ achieves true Gigabit speeds thanks to hardware NAT, which is setting standards for this class of device. Even with active VPN encryption, it still provides a net throughput of more than 200 Mbps on the Internet.

The LANCOM 1781EF+ features a Gigabit Ethernet port as a WAN interface to any ADSL, SDSL, VDSL or cable modem Internet connection. Four user-configurable ports can be used for LAN, WAN (up to 4x load balancing), DMZ, VLAN, or monitoring.

The router also features a Gigabit small form-factor pluggable socket (Mini-GBIC) for SFP transceivers, which allows direct connections to fiber-optic cables for WAN- or LAN-side networking of the router. The high-speed USB 2.0 port powers USB media, so that selected 3G modem sticks can be connected directly to the router as a backup for the Internet connection.

Flexibility through virtualization

The ARF (Advanced Routing and Forwarding) function of the LANCOM 1781EF+ provides up to sixteen virtual networks, each with its own settings for DHCP, DNS, routing and firewall. ARF allows logically separated networks to be operated for different groups and applications on a single physical infrastructure.

Security and backup included

The integrated high-security firewall with stateful inspection, intrusion detection, and denial-of-service protection reliably secures the network from attacks from the Internet. What's more, optional Web content filtering can be enabled for up to 100 users. The included management tools LANconfig and LANmonitor offer not only convenient remote maintenance of entire installations and useful setup wizards such as the 1-Click-VPN wizard which allows the simple setup of VPN connections between LANCOM routers but also real-time monitoring and logging. Comprehensive backup and high-availability functions guarantee smooth 24-hour operations.

The LANCOM 1781EF+ is available now. The device provides 5 VPN channels as standard. An optional extra upgrades this to 25 channels. The optional SFP-SX module LANCOM SFP-SX-LC1 or the LX version LANCOM SFP-LX-LC1 is also available now
