LANCOM GS-1224P: Web-smart PoE switch with professional functions
Economic Gigabit PoE switch from LANCOM
Aachen, May 4 2011—German network specialist LANCOM extends its line of switches with its first Gigabit web-smart switch with PoE. The GS-1224P switch is LANCOM's response to the needs of small to larger scale networks with high demands on security, management and QoS. Equipped with 24 Gigabit Ethernet ports, up to four of these function as dual-media ports for twisted pair cables or—with optional SFP modules—with fiber-optic cable. An example application for the GS-1224P is the support of high-performance 802.11n access points: Able to supply power via Ethernet cable and offering Gigabit Ethernet or even optional fiber-optic connectivity for the uplink, it is ideal for this purpose. The device is available at a suggested retail price of EUR 799 plus VAT.
Professional functions and easy management
The LANCOM GS-1224P offers all of the functions that demanding administrators require for security, management, performance and versatility: Authentication of connected devices (IEEE 802.1X or MAC-based), storm control, Quality of Service (QoS), virtualization (VLAN), SNMP remote management and link aggregation (as per IEEE 802.3ad with LACP). The switch is easy to configure with a web interface, and it is integrated into the LANCOM Management System.
The power supply via PoE complies with the IEEE 802.3af standard. PoE devices are detected automatically and the power limits are set according to their PoE class. Priorities can be set in the configuration to decide which device should preferably receive power. Practical for remote maintenance: The web interface offers control over the PoE supply, enabling devices that are connected to the LANCOM GS-1224P to be switched off and on again, even when nobody is on location. A power output totaling 185 watts can be distributed variably across all of the 24 Gigabit Ethernet ports.
The LANCOM GS-1224P is available at a suggested retail price of EUR 799 (SRP excluding VAT). The device comes with a 5-year warranty. The optional SFP-SX module LANCOM SFP-SX-LC1 is available for EURO 149 plus VAT, the LX version LANCOM SFP-LX-LC1 for EURO 259 plus VAT.
