LANCOM Systems presents a new dynamic VPN gateway
New highly integrated LANCOM 1711+ VPN router
Aachen, February 20, 2009—LANCOM Systems present the LANCOM 1711+ VPN, heir to the successful LANCOM 1711 VPN router. This latest version of the business VPN router for professional site connectivity in small and mid-sized enterprises comes with an improved hardware platform and an additional USB port for networking printers. Significantly increased memory means that free firmware updates from LANCOM will provide major upgrades to the router for years to come.
As with its predecessor, four separable switch ports facilitate the uncomplicated setup of a local network (LAN). A WAN Ethernet port allows the quick and easy connection to high-speed Internet access by ADSL, SDSL, VDSL or cable modem. IPsec VPN ensures that site connectivity remains secure.
Security and backup included
The integrated high-security firewall with stateful inspection, intrusion detection, and denial-of-service protection screens the network safely and reliably from attacks from the Internet. The management tools LANconfig and LANmonitor are included and offer not only convenient remote maintenance of entire installations and useful setup wizards, but also real-time monitoring and logging. Comprehensive backup and high-availability functions guarantee smooth 24-hour operations.
The ISDN interface on the LANCOM 1711+ VPN enables remote access and backup via ISDN. Supplied as standard, LANcapi turns every PC in the network into a fax machine. A serial outband interface enables easy servicing.
Flexibility thanks to virtualization and dynamic VPN
The LANCOM 1711+ VPN supports virtual networking, whereby virtualization allows the LAN and WAN to be used for multiple purposes.
The proprietary IPsec extension LANCOM Dynamic VPN allows connections to be established to remote sites equipped with standard DSL connections and dynamic IP addresses—even when the remote site is not permanently online. All LANCOM VPN routers support this function.
The LANCOM 1711+ VPN is available now at a price of EUR 499 excluding VAT. The device provides 5 VPN channels as standard. An optional extra upgrades this to 25 channels and additionally activates a hardware accelerator. This option is available at EUR 171.55 excluding VAT.
