Highly integrated radio solution paves the way for future wireless scenarios

LANCOM Systems presents the world's first WLAN access points with integrated Wireless ePaper Display and iBeacon technologies

Aachen, September 29, 2014 – LANCOM Systems, the leading German manufacturer of networking solutions for the commercial and public sectors, presents two highly integrated wireless access points that support the parallel operation of three different radio technologies: Wireless LAN, Wireless ePaper Displays, and iBeacon. The new E-series offers a unique combination of the latest wireless technologies to pave the way for innovative future applications, such as the radio-controlled digital signage of rooms and electronic shelf labels, and location-based services.

The new E-series comes in two models; the LANCOM L-322E Wireless and the LANCOM L-151E Wireless. The LANCOM L-322E Wireless is equipped with two WLAN radio modules for parallel operation in the 2.4- and 5-GHz frequency bands. It incorporates any kind of WLAN device into your wireless network at speeds of up to 300 Mbps. The LANCOM L-151E Wireless is the ideal access point wherever professional quality and reliability are required in the 2.4-GHz frequency band with up to 150 Mbps.

One infrastructure for classic WLAN and future technologies

Along with the support of classic WLAN networks, the LANCOM E-series lays the groundwork for a variety of state-of-the-art wireless applications. For example, electronic signage with LANCOM Wireless ePaper Displays provides highly effective signs for meeting and conference rooms in hotels and businesses, or optimized signage of patient beds in hospitals. The support of the iBeacon technology additionally forms the basis for innovative location-based services.

The integration of wireless LAN, LANCOM Wireless ePaper Display technology, and iBeacon capabilities into a single access point is highly efficient, and it enables the different radio technologies to operate interference-free in confined spaces. The E-series empowers businesses to operate a variety of applications over a single, power-saving network infrastructure with a minimum of effort in installation and maintenance.

Like all LANCOM routers and wireless LAN solutions, the E-series is developed and manufactured in Germany and is based on LANCOM's own operating system, LCOS. The LANCOM management system LCMS offers a comprehensive range of options for configuration and management.

Availability

The LANCOM L-322E Wireless and the LANCOM L-151E Wireless will be on sale from the end of October. The LANCOM Wireless ePaper Displays are available in the sizes 2.7", 4.4" and 7.4". All of these components, including the LANCOM Wireless ePaper Server for centralized management of display infrastructures, will be available from specialist resellers from the end of October.
