L-315agn dual Wireless for parallel operation in the 2.4- and 5-GHz bands

New 11n access point for gradual migration

Aachen, November 24, 2008 - The dual-radio access point LANCOM

L-315agn dual Wireless rounds off the 802.11n (draft 2.0)-range of products from network specialists LANCOM Systems. This device features 2 radio modules that can operate in parallel in the 2.4- and 5 GHz bands. The energy-efficient design allows power supply via standard Power-over-Ethernet (PoE, IEEE 802.af), meaning that existing PoE switches can be retained.

Equipped with two radio modules - 1 x 802.11abg, 1 x 802.11abgn - the LANCOM L-315agn dual Wireless facilitates a gradual, economical migration of conventional WLAN technology to 802.11n to make existing WLANs ready for the future. The "n"-module operates in the 5-GHz band in parallel to the second radio module, which serves existing abg clients in the 2.4-GHz band.

Controller support and security package included

Like all LANCOM access points, the LANCOM L-315agn dual Wireless operates optionally as a stand-alone unit or in combination with a LANCOM wireless LAN controller / wireless switch (LANCOM WLC-4006 or LANCOM WLC-4025).

Moreover the LANCOM L-315agn dual Wireless is equipped as standard with a comprehensive range of security features, including fully functional 802.11i with WPA2 and AES encryption, and also 802.1x/EAP (WPA Enterprise) for high-security environments.

The device is available as of December 2008 at a suggested retail price of EUR 599 plus VAT. The price includes life-long free firmware upgrades.
