New enterprise central-site VPN gateways from LANCOM

LANCOM 9100 VPN networks up to 1000 remote sites

Aachen, August 31, 2009 - Networking specialists LANCOM Systems are expanding their product range with additional high-end solutions. Two new VPN gateways form a platform for seamless broadband site connectivity for medium-sized and larger enterprises. The basic version of the LANCOM 9100 VPN supports 200 simultaneous VPN sessions; optional upgrades increase that number up to a potential 1,000 simultaneous VPN tunnels. The standard version of the LANCOM 7100 VPN supports 100, optionally 200 VPN connections.

These devices provide remote sites, partner companies or mobile users with secure, economical integration into company networks via standard Internet connections and IPsec VPN. The LANCOM 9100 VPN and LANCOM 7100 VPN are based on a new hardware platform for extremely high performance. For instance, the LANCOM 9100 VPN operates with an IPsec throughput of 330 Mbps, four times faster than its predecessor the LANCOM 8011 VPN.

The LANCOM 7100 VPN and the LANCOM 9100 VPN are both equipped with four Gigabit Ethernet ports, a USB-2.0 port, and an ISDN BRI. An LCD display on the front panel of the 1U 19" housing provides device-status information at a glance.

Virtualization, security and availability for the most demanding environments

Both gateways satisfy professional demands: LANCOM's integrated virtualization solution ARF (Advanced Routing and Forwarding) supports 256 VLAN/IP contexts for the flexible and highly efficient exploitation of LAN-WAN connections. Also standard: The virtual router redundancy protocol VRRP and load balancing for up to 3 WAN connections.

The integrated firewall with security functions such as stateful inspection, intrusion detection and denial-of-service protection is supplemented by dynamic bandwidth management and comprehensive backup, high-availability and redundancy functions over ISDN and VRRP. IPsec-based VPN provides optimal security for connecting branch offices and home offices thanks to the high-security 3-DES or AES encryption, integrated hardware acceleration, and support of digital certificates.

The free management programs LANconfig and LANmonitor are included and offer not only cost-effective remote maintenance of entire installations along with highly convenient setup wizards, but also full real-time monitoring and logging. Service providers benefit from the broad range of scripting methods and professional access with individual access rights for administrators via SSH, HTTPS, TFTP and ISDN dial-in.

The LANCOM 9100 VPN is available now at a price of Euro 3,999 excluding VAT. Upgrade options are available at Euro 999 plus VAT for 500 VPN channels and at Euro 1,799 plus VAT for 1,000 channels. The LANCOM 7100 VPN is available as of September 2009 for Euro 2,299 excluding VAT. Upgrading this to 200 VPN tunnels will cost Euro 669 excluding VAT.

"Very large companies requiring the secure connection of several hundred remote sites to their main office frequently push their VPN devices to the limit," explains Gunnar Mayer, Product Manager at LANCOM Systems. "The new central-site devices from LANCOM are designed to meet the bandwidth requirements of modern data centers. They provide future-ready VPN networking via IPsec VPN for up to 1,000 remote sites."
