Version 3.0 for 32-bit and 64-bit from Vista to Windows 8.1

New LANCOM VPN Client for Windows

Aachen, February 4, 2015 -LANCOM Systems, the leading German manufacturer of networking solutions for the commercial and public sectors, introduces the new version 3.0 of their IPSec-based Advanced VPN Client featuring an optimized "always on" mode for Windows 8.1 tablets, as well as flexible software distribution by means of the Microsoft Installer (MSI).

The "always on" mode for Windows 8.1 tablets keeps the VPN tunnel permanently open. The benefit for users and administrators is that the process runs in the background, avoiding operator errors and relieving the user of the task of connecting manually. A further innovation is that, by supporting the Microsoft Installer (MSI), the VPN client is easily deployed to the devices by the available software distribution systems.

The integrated personal firewall in the new version has been optimized so that outbound connections that are blocked for security reasons are acknowledged with a "reject", if so desired. It also allows firewall rules to be directly enabled or disabled at the click of a mouse. Creating pre-defined rules is just as easy. Furthermore, the interface allows rules to be defined for data transmission with the IPv6 protocol.

Over 3G/4G connections, the VPN client transmits data by means of the "Windows Mobile Broadband Interface" to ensure the maximum possible data transfer rates. The software also supports seamless roaming so that it can automatically switch between different networks (e.g. between WLAN and 3G/4G). This ensures that online applications, such as remote desktop connections, can survive a change of connection without the VPN client disconnecting.

This client works with all current 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows. This means that even with heterogeneous infrastructures, companies can work with a single, universal client to manage remote access. The benefit: Lower costs for administrators, the user helpdesk, and on training.

The LANCOM Advanced VPN Client version 3.0 supports 32- and 64-bit versions of Windows Vista, Windows 7, 8, and 8.1, and it is available now. For all customers already using the Advanced VPN Client version 2.2 and later, an upgrade to version 3.0 is available.

A 30-day demo version is available for download from the LANCOM website.
