New LANCOM VPN Client with Budget Manager

Versatile access to company networks, full cost control

Aachen, January 15, 2009 - Networking specialists LANCOM present Version 2.1 of the LANCOM Advanced VPN Client, an extensive upgrade to their VPN software client for Microsoft Windows. Major new features include the Budget Manager, support for an even wider range of UMTS cards, and new diagnostic capabilities.

The LANCOM Advanced VPN Client supports Internet connections via wireless LAN, mobile telephony (UMTS/GPRS), ISDN, analog or DSL modems, whereby detection of the transmission medium is automatic. The client also offers 0900-dialer protection as well as the option of integrating the program directly into the Windows login after booting. Business travelers and telecommuters can access company data with maximum security yet minimum complication thanks to the integrated personal firewall, IPSec VPN and support of numerous UMTS and HSDPA cards. New options include automatic login at T Mobile and LANCOM hotspots.

Full cost control with the Budget Manager

The new Budget Manager allows monthly contingents to be set for data volumes or time via mobile broadband or wireless LAN hotspots. Also, a list defines the UMTS network operators permitted for use, and UMTS/GPRS Internet access can be suppressed on international travels. This prevents expensive roaming and provides full cost control for the first time.

Multi-certificate support and improved diagnostics

The latest version of LANCOM Advanced VPN Client offers multi-certificate support. This allows a single client to establish multiple certificate-based connections to different remote sites, for example to customers or suppliers, or to the company network.

Further innovations include the diagnostics and troubleshooting.

If a connection cannot be established, the client now indicates the reason: For example, if the wrong encryption is being used, or if an Internet connection is not available.

In addition to Vista, the LANCOM Advanced VPN Client also supports the operating systems Windows 2000 and Windows XP. This allows terminal equipment with different Windows operating systems to be set up with uniform configurations.

Customers who activated their current Advanced VPN Client 2.0 after 17.10.2008 can upgrade to version 2.1 free of charge.

A 30-day demo version is available for free download from the LANCOM Web site.

LANCOM is presenting the new LANCOM Advanced VPN Client along with more wireless LAN and networking solutions at this year's CeBIT in Hanover, Germany from March 03 – 08 (hall 13, booth C34).
