LANCOM 3850 offers unique versatility with UMTS modems

Aachen, November 26, 2007 - LANCOM Systems present the LANCOM 3850 UMTS, heir to the successful LANCOM 3550 Wireless UMTS router.

This router provides unparalleled versatility by connecting with most current UMTS modems either via Cardbus, ExpressCard (with Cardbus adapter) or the USB port.

By combining UMTS, WLAN, DSL and VPN, the UMTS/WLAN router opens up new and extremely versatile options in enterprise connectivity - including setting up temporary conference rooms at congresses, mobile offices on construction sites, or for consultants on location with their clients. Additionally, freedom of location comes with the independence from power sockets due to standards-compliant Power-over-Ethernet support (PoE) according to IEEE 802.af.

Via UMTS/HSDPA the LANCOM 3550 UMTS provides rapid Internet access via WLAN or, in combination with VPN, it provides secure access to the company network.

As a back-up connection for site coupling, UMTS/HSDPA is cheaper and faster than the conventional alternative, ISDN. Moreover, it is significantly less prone to failure as there are no cables at risk from construction works, for example.

Above all, the solution inexpensively bridges the “last mile” for customers who do not have access to an equivalent broadband connection by cable.

The LANCOM 3850 UMTS is available now for 549 EUR (excl. VAT).

A detailed data sheet and further information are available from the LANCOM website under www.lancom.eu/umts.
