Wireless LAN devices pass independent tests

LANCOM routers and access points certified by the Wi-Fi Alliance

Aachen, May 14, 2012—LANCOM Systems, the specialist for network connectivity and wireless LAN, has successfully attained certification by the Wi-Fi Alliance of a number of its wireless LAN products that conform to the standard IEEE 802.11n. Now officially labeled "Wi-Fi Certified" are the LANCOM access points L-320agn Wireless, L-321agn Wireless and L-322agn dual Wireless, and the LANCOM WLAN routers 1781AW, 1781EW and 1780EW-3G.

Founded in 1999, the Wi-Fi Alliance is a non-profit organization that has greatly influenced the development of WLAN technology and which conducts the certification of WLAN products. Certification by the Wi-Fi Alliance reflects the compliance with security standards, the industry-wide interoperability, and the overall quality of WLAN products. The Wi-Fi Alliance is a coalition of more than 300 manufacturers and suppliers in the field of wireless networking, one of which is LANCOM Systems.

"LANCOM has always attached importance to interoperability with equipment from other manufacturers and to ensure the highest standards of security," says Sandra Müller, WLAN Product Line Manager. "With the official logo of the Wi-Fi Alliance, this has now been confirmed by an independent body. This gives our customers even more peace of mind. "

A wide range of security functions (802.11i, WPA, WPA2) ensure that transmissions from these devices are safe from attack without any loss in performance. 802.1x and TACACS+ offer additional security and the professional management.

All of these devices support 8 SSIDs for the simultaneous operation of multiple separate and secure wireless networks. Added flexibility comes with the support of centralized controllers as standard: Like all LANCOM devices with a WLAN radio module, they optionally operate in stand-alone mode or they can be managed by a LANCOM WLAN controller.

For adaptability to any application, the supplied omni-directional antenna can be replaced by a sector antenna from the extensive LANCOM portfolio. The devices also support the LANCOM Public Spot Option for user-friendly WLAN hotspots.
