LANCOM IAP 321: New 802.11n access point with dust-proof metal housing

Aachen, January 24, 2011—Networking specialists LANCOM Systems expand their range of wireless LAN products with the LANCOM IAP 321. This 802.11n access point has a discreet, dust-proof metal housing (IP 50 protection rating) with anti-theft protection. It satisfies tough fire-safety requirements and supports an extended operating temperature range of -20 to +50 °C. This makes the IAP 321 ideal for installation in buildings open to the public, under suspended ceilings, in warehouses with excessive dust, or in refrigeration facilities with extreme temperatures.

The IAP 321 operates in the 2.4-GHz or 5-GHz frequency bands in compliance with the IEEE 802.11agn WLAN standards. The two network interfaces (1x Gigabit and 1x Fast Ethernet) support standard PoE (IEEE 802.3af), so that power can be supplied via the network cable. Other options for power supply include an AC power adapter or via an industrial power connector for 10 to 28 volts DC. With the three options for mounting—on the wall, on a mast, or on a top-hat rail mounting—this device can be set up in any situation, in any position. The mounting plate with Kensington lock provides the IAP 321 with effective anti-theft protection. The mounting equipment is included.

A wide range of security functions (802.11i, WPA, WPA2) ensure that the IAP 321's transmissions are safe from attack without any loss in performance. 802.1x and TACACS+ offer additional security and the professional management of administrator accounts.

The IAP 321 supports 8 SSIDs for operating multiple separate and secure wireless networks simultaneously. Added flexibility comes with support of Controllers as standard: Like all LANCOM access points, the IAP 321 a operates in stand-alone mode or it can be managed by a LANCOM WLAN Controller.

For adaptability to any application, the supplied omni-directional antenna can be replaced by a sector antenna from the extensive LANCOM portfolio. The access point also supports the LANCOM Public Spot option for user-friendly wireless hotspots.

The LANCOM IAP 321 will be available end of February at a RRP of EUR 699 plus VAT. The 5-piece bulk package will cost EUR 2,999 plus VAT.
