From access to core: LANCOM offers a completely European solution for multi-tier campus networks. LANCOM CS-8132F completes the switch portfolio

Entry of

Aachen, 16 September 2024 – The German network-infrastructure and security supplier LANCOM Systems is now a full-range LAN supplier. With the core switch LANCOM CS-8132F, multi-tier campus networks can for the first time be completely equipped with European components from the access to the core layers. With their expanded portfolio, LANCOM continues to build on the highly positive development of their switch business.

As a central hub in campus networks, the LANCOM CS-8132F is a resilient basis for the bandwidth-intensive applications of today and tomorrow. In particular distributed companies with high data volumes or a high client density will benefit from the 32 100G QSFP28 industry-standard ports with up to 6.4 Tbps switch capacity as a powerful backbone for their network infrastructure. Thanks to this expanded portfolio, campus networks can now be fully equipped with LANCOM—from the access layer to the aggregation/distribution layer all the way to the core layer—all from a European manufacturer.

LANCOM Chief Sales Officer, Robert Mallinson: “With the expansion of our switch portfolio, we are taking the next logical step and building on the very positive business development in the switch segment. Organizations are facing increasing regulatory requirements, such as NIS2. With LANCOM, they have the opportunity to address all their network infrastructure needs with digitally sovereign solutions developed in Germany.”

Maximum failover reliability

The LANCOM CS-8132F guarantees a maximum of high availability, making it suitable for critical scenarios where maintenance windows are not an option. By supporting Virtual Port Channels (VPC or MC-LAG), it offers uninterrupted availability in redundant networks during updates (In-Service Software Upgrade, ISSU). Power supplies and fans are redundant and hot-swappable. The LANCOM CS-8132F offers optimal cooling in racks and maximum flexibility with its two hardware variants with different airflow designs, either from back-to-front or vice versa.

Highly automated cloud management

The LANCOM CS-8132F can be managed using the web GUI, from the command line, or in the LANCOM Management Cloud (LMC). When managed from the cloud, rollouts and updates are highly automated by Software Defined Networking (SDN). Furthermore, 24/7 real-time monitoring in the LANCOM Management Cloud gives network administrators full visibility and control over all LANCOM network components (switches, routers, access points, and firewalls) wherever they are located.

Updated switch portfolio

LANCOM is also expanding its aggregation- and access-layer portfolio. The 25G SFP28 switch LANCOM YS-7154CF delivers performance and high availability on the aggregation/distribution layer. On the access layer, the 10G-capable LANCOM XS-4500 and LANCOM XS-3500 models are the basis for future-proof and high-performance Wi-Fi 7 networks. Like the new core and aggregation/distribution switches, the LANCOM XS-4500 series supports highly available network designs with 100% uptime (VPC, ISSU, redundant power supplies and fans) for maximum reliability on all layers. For optimal compatibility and ease of use, the switches can be managed via a uniform industry-standard CLI as well as the LANCOM Management Cloud.

With the recently launched LANCOM IGS-3510XUP, LANCOM also offers a temperature-enhanced industrial version with optional cloud management.

Like all network components from LANCOM, the switches come with a proprietary operating system developed by the manufacturer and a guaranteed freedom from backdoors.
