CeBIT 2016: LANCOM Systems introduces network management in the cloud

Aachen, March 9, 2016—Along with applications and computing power, now it is device management that is moving into the cloud. At the CeBIT 2016 (Hall 13, C28) LANCOM Systems, the leading German manufacturer of professional networking solutions for business customers and the public sector, for the first time unveil their plans for secure, efficient, and future-oriented management and monitoring of entire networks from the cloud. The LANCOM Management Cloud (LMC) is "Made & Hosted in Germany". Security-critical network keys and configuration data are all located in trusted data centers.

The LANCOM Management Cloud makes it quick and easy for customers to commission, manage and monitor their local and multi-site networks. Adapting to new organizational conditions, expanding existing infrastructures, and even exchanging network components are now implemented with a minimum of effort. Complex processes are easily controlled by tablet, PC, laptop or smartphone from any location. The result is a significant reduction in the network operating costs for companies of all sizes, from small businesses to major corporations with sites distributed worldwide.

Legally compliant server hosting in Europe

The LMC is an economic public cloud solution that offers simple licensing models for the efficient and cost-effective commissioning and management of networks of any size. The servers are hosted in Germany. The fact that no data is stored outside of Europe guarantees the highest standards of trust and data privacy. Sensitive network keys and configuration data are under optimal protection from unauthorized access.

Private cloud for large projects and service providers

LANCOM optionally offer the LMC as a private-cloud solution for service providers and customers with large networks. In this case the solution is operated in the security of the customer's own data center. This variant is particularly interesting for companies and institutions that cannot use public cloud offerings owing to organizational, technical or security reasons.

Integrated network management

The LANCOM Management Cloud handles the management of LANCOM WLAN access points, switches, routers, and VPN gateways to provide an integrated management of wired and wireless local area networks and site-connectivity infrastructures.

The LANCOM Management Cloud will be introduced in stages throughout the second half of 2016. Selected project customers will be involved from the kick-off, and general availability is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2016. Detailed information on the licensing model and costs will follow in due course. LANCOM offers first insights into the new solution at its CeBIT booth.
