PRESS RELEASE 2012-322

LCOS 8.6 offers up to 30% more performance

Free operating system update for LANCOM devices

Aachen (Germany), April 16, 2012 - The specialist in site connectivity and wireless LAN infrastructures LANCOM Systems, presents its customers the latest free update for its access points, WLAN controllers, routers and gateways. The new LCOS 8.6 provides not only enhanced usability, convenience and mobility, but also up to 30 percent more performance.

The LANCOM Management System (LCMS) consists of the Windows programs LANconfig, LANmonitor and WLANmonitor used for configuring and monitoring all LANCOM routers and WLAN access points. LCOS and LCMS are available for free download from the LANCOM web site.

Up to 30% more performance

The new LCOS 8.60 improves the performance of many LANCOM routers and access points by up to 30%. Detailed information on performance gains can be found in the updated techpaper on routing performance, available from the LANCOM web site:

Group configuration and CSV import

Group configuration is a flexible function in LANconfig that enables configuration templates to be compiled for groups of LANCOM devices. This type of template installs a common basic configuration to any number of devices, and all that remains is to configure the parameters that are specific to each device. A new feature in LANconfig imports CSV tables, giving you the option to create any number of device configurations in a single step and, if desired, to compile configurations automatically.

LANCOM VPN for Android

LANCOM VPN routers with the latest version of LCOS can now integrate Android devices into company networks. This allows smartphones and tablet PCs with the Android operating system to remotely access company data and e-mails.

SIP ALG support

SIP ALG (Application Layer Gateway) enables SIP devices communicating via a SIP provider to reach any other terminal device without problem. The remote terminal could be an analog phone, another SIP device, an ISDN phone, or an IP camera. Automatic address mapping for devices on the LAN eliminates the need for STUN. Bandwidth for the SIP media stream is reserved automatically (QoS).
