Version 2.3 for 32- and 64-bit Windows

LANCOM VPN Client with new firewall and Windows broadband support

Aachen, November 28, 2011 – The new version 2.3 of the Advanced VPN Client from networking specialist LANCOM Systems is enhanced with broadband support for Windows 7. This software version uses the "Windows Mobile Broadband Interface" for data transfer on mobile connections, such as LTE, to guarantee the maximum available data transmission rates. Also available for the first time with the VPN client is Seamless Roaming.

Further innovations in version 2.3 of the client include, among others, a new configuration interface for the integrated personal firewall. This allows firewall rules to be directly enabled or disabled at the click of a mouse. Creating pre-defined rules is just as easy. Furthermore, the interface allows rules to be defined for data transmission with the IPv6 protocol.

Important for the mobile computers of the future will be "seamless roaming", i.e. the ability to move between different networks such as wireless LAN and UMTS/3G. Online applications must be able to survive an interruption to or change of connection as the VPN client maintains system connectivity. This function will be available with version 2.3 of the Advanced VPN Client in conjunction with LCOS 8.6, the latest version of the LANCOM Operating System.

The LANCOM Advanced VPN Client supports not only connections via wireless LAN, ISDN, analog and DSL modems; unlike standard IPSec and SSL VPN clients, it also works over LTE, UMTS and GPRS connections.

This client works with all current 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows. The advantage for businesses is clear: Even with heterogeneous infrastructures, companies can work with a single, universal client to manage remote access. The benefit: Lower costs for administrators, the user help desk, and on training.

The LANCOM Advanced VPN Client version 2.3 supports 32- and 64-bit versions of Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7, and it is available at a price of EUR 106 plus VAT.

Customers who activated their current Advanced VPN Client 2.2 after August 28, 2011 can upgrade to version 2.3 free of charge.

A 30-day demo version is available for download from the LANCOM web site.
