Aachen, May 19, 2022—This year, LANCOM Systems, leading European network infrastructure and security supplier for business and the public sector, looks back on 20 years of company and IT history “Made in Germany”. The company based near Aachen, Germany celebrated its anniversary with a ceremony in Aachen on May 19. Along with customers and partners, the invitees included prominent representatives from politics and the digital economy.
At today's event, around 200 guests including customers, partners and associates were there to extend their congratulations. High-ranking representatives from politics and business, including Christoph Dammermann, State Secretary in the Ministry for Economic Affairs, Innovation, Digitalization and Energy of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, Dr. Gerhard Schabhüser, Vice President of the German Federal Office for Information Security, and Peter Riedel, Managing Director and COO of the LANCOM parent company Rohde & Schwarz, joined the list of speakers and guests. The keynote speech was held by Achim Berg, President of Germany’s digital industry association Bitkom.

Company founder Ralf Koenzen also gave an outlook on current and upcoming innovation drivers in the network market: Topics such as cloud-based network services, AI, IT security and flexible workplace models will stay in focus and set new standards. LANCOM will continue to expand its market position as a leading provider of digitally sovereign networking solutions made in Germany.
BACKGROUND: LANCOM Systems – a success story
At the beginning there was an opportunity and a vision: When the opportunity for a management buyout from ELSA AG arose in 2002, Ralf Koenzen seized the opportunity and founded LANCOM Systems. In doing so, he pursued a clear objective: With IT network components “Made in Germany”, an alternative became available in the IT and network market, which is mostly dominated by Asian and US companies. The growing awareness of digital and data sovereignty, as well as information security in politics and society, today more than ever justifies the direction LANCOM has taken.
Thanks to the ongoing development of its portfolio of products and solutions, LANCOM Systems has grown from a 25-person start-up to be a leading European provider of digitally sovereign network infrastructure solutions with over 400 employees.
